The half-mile long Atlantic Beach boardwalk is closed as of March 27, village Mayor George Pappas said. On March 26, Long Beach officials closed the city’s boardwalk.

On March 22, the village closed its eight beaches and two playgrounds as the social distancing guidelines of people being six feet apart were not being adhered to, Pappas said, to help curb the spread of the virus known as COVID-19 and protect the public’s health.

On March 18, the village declared a state of emergency because of the health crisis. Until further notice, Village Hall will be open, with reduced staff “to keep government running.”

Officials recommend that residents and the general public call or use online services to conduct village-related business when possible to avoid excessive contact with people during this time.

Trash and recycling collection schedules remain the same. However, 2020 parking decals will not be issued at this time; the 2019 decals will remain valid until further notice. Landscape licenses should be mailed in; 2019 licenses remain valid. Renewal or new contractor’s licenses should be mailed, emailed or faxed.
