NYC teacher from Baldwin charged with sex abuse of minor

A Baldwin man was charged with sexually abusing an 11-year-old girl at the Brooklyn school he teaches at, according to New York City Police. Daniel Santiago, 29, faces one count each of sex abuse and acting in a manner to injure a child under 17.

He was arrested April 15 at 10:30 a.m., the NYPD said. According to published reports, the Baldwinite taught at PS 244 in Brooklyn. On multiple occasions, he allegedly touched a girl inappropriately and sent her lewd messages.

A New York City Department of Education spokesman told several outlets the agency is looking to remove Santiago from payroll as soon as possible.
