A leader of the East Meadow Fire Department Junior Program was arrested for engaging in sexual misconduct with one of its 16-year old members, according to Nassau County police.

Scott Farber, 49, of East Meadow, allegedly committed criminal sexual acts against the 16-year old boy in his home on April 18, according to detectives. An investigation pointed police to Farber, who was arrested in his home without incident early Tuesday morning.

Farber is a commissioner at the East Meadow Fire Department in addition to  helping lead its junior program. He joined the department in 1992 as a firefighter and paramedic before serving as a chairman and vice-chairman.

"All I could say is that the East Meadow Fire Department and District will fully cooperate with the district attorney and law enforcement on this matter," said Commissioner John Priest. The EMFD declined to comment further due to the pending litigation.

Farber is being charged with two counts of third-degree criminal sexual activity and endangering the welfare of a child.

Farber was arraigned on Wednesday morning and held on $50,000 bail or $25,000 bond. His next appearance is Friday. He is being represented by the Legal Aid Society, which does not comment on pending cases.
