Earning academic honors

Hofstra University unveiled its spring dean’s list and 15 local students earned the honor. Students must earn a grade-point average of at least 3.5 during the semester.

On the Hofstra Provost’s list for the spring semester were Dannah Allen and Matthew Leblanc, both of Woodmere, and Emma Gartenstein from Hewlett. A perfect 4.0 GPA is the requirement.

Hewlett residents Jessica Keeler and Nick Robinson were named to the spring semester dean’s list for the University of Rhode Island. Full-time students must have completed 12 or more credits for letter grades during a semester and achieved at least a 3.30 quality-point average. Part-time students qualify with the accumulation of 12 or more credits for letter grades earning at least a 3.30 QPA.

The Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta presented degrees to roughly 3,800 undergraduates and Kenneth Goodman, of Cedarhurst, received a Master of Science in computer science.

James Silberger, from Woodmere, was named to James Madison University’s spring semester dean’s list. He is majoring in sport and recreation management. Students who earn the honor must carry at least 12 graded credit hours and earn a GPA of between 3.5 and 3.899.

Hewlett residents Yair Altmark, with a Bachelor of Science in hospitality administration, Adam Wald, a juris doctor in law, Alexander Bernstein, also a juris doctor in law and a Master of Laws in graduate taxation, and Isabelle Straschnow, a Bachelor of Science in hospitality administration with cum laude honors, along with Nolan Kim, from Woodmere, who received a Bachelor of Science in biomedical engineering graduated Boston University.

Altmark and Straschnow, along with Stephanie Cooper, of Woodmere were named to the school’s dean’s list for the spring semester. Students typically must attain a 3.5 GPA (4.0 scale) or be in the top 30 percent of their class and carry a full course load.
