Longtime Rockville Centre resident Eugene “Gene” J. Moran died suddenly on the afternoon of July 27. He was 77 years old.

Moran was a beloved and devoted husband, father of seven children and grandfather of 22. A distinguished attorney, he was a partner in the Garden City law firm of Moran & Brodrick until his retirement 10 years ago. He was a graduate of Brooklyn Prep and St. John’s University and its school of law.

A huge Mets and St. John’s fan, Moran was also a great lover of horse racing and classic movies. Above all, he was a true gentleman.

Gene will be sorely missed and remembered fondly.

He is survived by Grace, his wife of 52 years, daughter Siobhan (Andrew Karamouzis), sons Mark (Terry), Greg (Christine), Brian (Kathleen), Matthew (Jennifer), and Colin (Christine), and his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his eldest son, James (Cassie).

Moran lay in repose on July 29 at Macken Mortuary. A funeral Mass was held on July 30 at St. Agnes Cathedral and interment followed immediately at St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale.

The family asks that donations in his name be made to Brooklyn Prep Alumni Association, Loyola Hall, Fordham University, Bronx, New York 10458. Specify that the donation is for the Rev. John D. Alexander SJ Endowment Fund.
