Three adult men and a minor were arrested by a Nassau County police officer after they crashed their car in Lynbrook while evading the officer trying to pull them over on Dec. 12 at 2:26 a.m. Police later found a loaded gun in the car.

According to the NCPD, an officer saw a 2006 BMW speeding eastbound on Sunrise Highway without headlights on. The officer attempted to pull the car over, but the driver fled the scene and eventually lost control and crashed into a median on Sunrise Highway, near Forest Avenue. All four occupants of the car suffered injuries and were taken into police custody.

The driver, Rodney Smokes, 21, of Lynbrook, was arrested along with Gregory Herrera, 18, of Roosevelt, Jablee Cohen, 19, of Floral Park, and a 16-year-old from Hempstead. The 16-year-old passenger was in the front seat, while the other two rode in the back.

Smokes suffered a fractured right leg, while Herrera sustained a head laceration and fractured left arm, and Cohen fractured his neck and skull. The minor suffered fractured ribs.

All four were transported by an ambulance to a local hospital for treatment, and a subsequent investigation found a loaded handgun in the car.

Smokes wascharged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a fire arm, fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, second-degree assault, two counts of third-degree assault and multiple vehicle and traffic law violations. Herrera, Cohen and the minor were each charged with criminal possession of a firearm.

All defendants will be arraigned when medically practical.
