Rock Hall Museum, that includes the main house of what was initially an 18th century plantation named Rock Hall and is now a Town of Hempstead owned and operated museum in Lawrence, will be part of HBO’s new series “The Gilded Age.”

Created by Julian Fellowes best known for “Downton Abbey," the story focuses on “a wide-eyed young scion of a conservative family” who “embarks on a mission to infiltrate the wealthy neighboring clan dominated by ruthless railroad tycoon George Russell, his rakish son, Larry, and his ambitious wife, Bertha,” according to a description on HBO’s website.

It stars Christine Baranski, Cynthia Nixon, Carrie Coon and Morgan Spector. The scene using Rock Hall as a backdrop is scheduled to be taped on March 29. HBO officials request that people do not enter the property as they created a Covid bubble where everyone was tested.
