Sandy damaged homes to be auctioned

Posted

A third round of auctions of Hurricane Sandy-damaged houses in Island Park is set to take place May 11 at the Hyatt Regency, at 1717 Motor Parkway in Hauppauge. The Housing Trust Fund Corporation, in connection with the Governor’s Office of Storm Recovery, which oversees NY Rising, has purchased the homes from the pre-storm owners.

A total of 29 Nassau County properties are up for bid. They were substantially damaged by either Tropical Storm Irene or Sandy.

The first two rounds of auctions totaled $22 million in May 2015 and $24 million in November 2015.

All of the properties are listed as substantially damaged, so the realty company recommends appropriate dress, and a flashlight.

The open house for these all the Island Park properties except Kent Road will be April 5. The property at 36 Kent Road is just vacant land, and so exclude from the open house. That property was valued at $335,000 pre storm. The new minimum bid for this parcel will be $78,325.
