Lynbrook Fire Department's Christmas tree fire safety video to air on village TV this month

Posted

Back in 2013, members of the Lynbrook Fire Department produced and filmed a Christmas tree safety video in Wilcox Alley on the border of Greis Park in Lynbrook.

The firefighters constructed a living room with furniture and a lit Christmas tree. The video, which has been re-edited, shows what could happen if a Christmas tree catches fire and how quickly it can consume a home’s living area.

The video will be shown on local Lynbrook TV, channel 20/33 throughout December. It can also be seen on the LFD website, lynbrookfd.org under the “Press Room” tab.

Chief Michael Brooks reminds residents about some simple rules to make a safe Christmas season for their families. Remember to water a live Christmas tree often; to make sure the tree light wiring is not frayed; to keep any and all heat sources or candles away from the tree; and turn off the tree lights when going out or when going to bed.

Brooks asked all residents to watch the Christmas tree fire safety video. He also wished all village residents, on behalf of the membership of the Lynbrook Fire Department, a safe and happy holiday season.
