Motorcyclist critically injured in Oceanside crash

A 36-year-old motorcyclist was critically injured Thursday morning after being struck by a U.S. Postal Service van in Oceanside, according to Nassau County police.

A 36-year-old motorcyclist was critically injured Thursday morning after being struck by a U.S. Postal Service van in Oceanside, according to Nassau County police.

The crash occurred at 9:36 a.m. near the intersection of Atlantic Avenue and Court Street. Police said the motorcyclist was traveling westbound on Atlantic Avenue when a 25-year-old man driving the postal van allegedly attempted a left turn to head eastbound and struck the motorcycle.

The motorcyclist, who was riding a 2013 Suzuki, sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital, according to detectives, and he is listed in critical but stable condition.

The investigation is ongoing.
