Oceanside Garden Club grows community spirit with tree planting

Posted

The Oceanside Garden Club celebrated Arbor Day by planting a flowering dogwood, a native tree, in a local park.

At a brief ceremony after the planting, the tree was dedicated with thanks and appreciation to all the essential workers and first responders of Oceanside who gave so much to the community over  the past 14 months. The club recognized all of the health care workers, firefighters, police and other first responders, teachers, grocery store workers, retail employees, restaurant staff, delivery drivers and all of the others who worked with courage, caring and dedication to serve those in need.

The celebration marked the 45th annual Arbor Day observance that the Garden Club has ushered in with a tree planting in Oceanside or a neighboring community. This year, the club expressed its appreciation to Hicks Nursey in Westbury for doinating a tree.
