Oyster Bay-East Norwich Central School District's 2025-26 budget passes

Voters in the Oyster Bay-East Norwich Central School District approved a $67.7 million budget for the 2025-26 academic year on Tuesday night, with 643 votes for and 420 against.

The spending plan represents a $2.1 million increase over the current year’s budget and was unanimously adopted by the Board of Education at its April 22 meeting. The budget aims to maintain current programs and services while supporting educational and operational needs across the district.

"Thank you so much to the entire community who came out and voted," Superintendent Francesco Ianni said. "I'm excited for the students. That is always and will always be my top priority as long as I'm superintendent."

In the Board of Education election, incumbent Michael Schindler was reelected with 595 votes. James Rickard, a newcomer to the board, received 696.

In addition to the budget (Proposition Number 1) and the election, voters also passed  Propositions Number 2 through 4.  The second and third propositions were approvals of expenditure of technology capital and the district's capital reserve, respectively.

Finally, proposition 4, the budget for the Oyster Bay-East Norwich Public Library, passed with 777 votes for and only 76 votes against. In addition Frank Murdock, longtime library board trustee, was reelected with 760 votes.
