Police arrest Freeport man for shooting incident

Nassau County Police Department's First Squad reported the arrest of a Freeport man on April 1 for a shooting incident that took place  in Freeport. 

Detectives said Lenny Traveras, 26, was arguing with a 27-year-old man on March 25, on Bedell Street when Traveras fired two rounds  from a handgun at the victim. Traveras then fled the scene. 

An investigation of the incident had the victim identify the shooter as Traveras. 

Officers located Traveras on April 1, at 4:40 p.m.,, in Selden, where they arrested him. No one was injured during the arrest. 

Traveras was charged with attempted murder, reckless endangerment, criminal possession of a weapon, criminal use of a firearm and criminal mischief. He was arraigned in the First District Court, in Hempstead, on April 2.
