Police arrest Elmont man for sexual abuse

The Nassau County Police Department’s Fifth Squad reported the arrest of an Elmont man wanted for sexual abuse on July 2.

Detectives said the defendant, Alex Rivera, 24, entered an apartment where he proceeded to inappropriately touch a juvenile female victim against her will. The victim fought with Rivera multiple times before she able to escape him and alerted her parents. River then fled the scene.

On July 2, at 8:40 a.m., Rivera surrendered himself at the NCPD Fifth Precinct, in Elmont.

Rivera was charged with burglary, endangering the welfare of a child, sexual abuse, sexually motivated felony and unlawful imprisonment. He was arraigned at the First District Court in Hempstead on July 3.
