Police: Gunpoint robbery in Elmont

Nassau County police reported a Jan. 3 robbery at an Elmont beauty supply shop in which two men brandished a gun and assaulted a store worker when she refused give in to their demands.

Detectives said that two 20 to 30-year old men, one who was roughly six-feet-tall wearing a dark hooded jacket with a camouflage face mask; and another who was roughly five-feet-tall, wearing a brown-fur trimmed red snorkel jacket, entered Jada’s Luxury Beauty Supply on Hempstead Turnpike at roughly 6:18 p.m. and wielding a handgun demanded money from a 37-year-old female shopkeeper. When she refused, police said, the two reportedly punched the woman in the face and body and fled with an undisclosed amount of money.

The two suspects were later believed to have also robbed a convenience store in Massapequa on the same evening at around 9:22 p.m. Police ask that anyone with information about the crimes contact them at 1 (800) 8477.
