Elementary school students switch to remote learning

Students in the Franklin Square and Elmont school districts continued to learn remotely on Feb. 2, after a massive nor'easter dumped about a foot of snow on the area.

The Elmont School District Board of Education meeting scheduled for Feb. 2 has also been rescheduled to Feb. 8 at 8 p.m.

The Sewanhaka Central High School District, meanwhile, remained closed, and remote learning was not required.

A coastal flood warning also remained in affect for Long Island on Tuesday, with more snow expected to fall throughout the day. The total new accumulation, according to the National Weather Service, is xpected to be less than half an inch.
