Students practice their writing skills

Students in Allison Brafman’s fourth and fifth grade classes at Bowling Green Elementary School, in the East Meadow School District’s Extended School Year Program, recently read “I Am Enough,” by Grace Byers, and practiced adding details to their writing.

Throughout the book, similes are used to detail specific events. Students analyzed theses similes before writing their own summer-themed versions. The students’ similes were then shared with the class and were put on display in the hallway surrounding the classroom.
