Tropical Storm Isaias struck the Five Towns Tuesday with winds of 40 mph and frequent gusts of 60 to 70 mph that have felled multiple trees across the South Shore communities.

Strong winds and hazardous gusts downed trees, branches and wires, currently affecting more than 320,00 of its 1.1 million customers across Long Island and the Rockaways.

In the Five Towns, 1,177 customers in Lawrence, 1,081 in Inwood  and 990 in Woodmere are without power. There are sporadic outages  in Atlantic Beach, Cedarhurst and Hewlett.
