Two injured in Woodmere crash, driver alleged DWI

Two men were injured and the driver was charged with driving while intoxicated after a blue 2016 Toyota crashed into a building at 945 Broadway in Woodmere at 1:24 a.m. on April 14, police said.

Police responded to the intersection of  Broadway and Neptune Avenu and found Deywin Gonzalez Sovalbarro, 20, the driver of the car seated on the curb. He had "glassy bloodshot eyes, slurred speech and a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath, " according to the police.

Sovalbarro was arrested and taken to a local hospital for treatment and evaluation. The two men, both 21, were also taken to a local hospital  for injuries sustained in the crash.

Sovalbarro is charged with driving while intoxicated. He was given an appearance ticket for Nassau County First District Court. His court date is July 15.
