A man was struck by a train and killed near the Long Island Rail Road’s Rockville Centre station at about 2 p.m. on Friday, according to Metropolitan Transportation Authority spokesman Aaron Donovan.

MTA Police identified the man on Saturday as Ryan O'Shea, 18, of Rockville Centre. O'Shea graduated from South Side High School last June.

Donovan said that the incident does not appear to be criminal in nature, nor accidental.

The Rockville Centre Police Department arrived first to the scene, and responders contacted the LIRR to shut down the trains and power to the tracks, according to village spokeswoman Julie Scully.

At about 3 p.m. Friday, Donovan told the Herald that there were 15- to 20-minute delays on the Babylon and Montauk branches as a result of the incident. Two trains on the Babylon branch were canceled, he added, and others were bypassing the Rockville Centre station in both directions for a few hours.
