Achieve Party must condemn sexist remarks (Feb. 21 - Feb. 27)

To the Editor:

I want to condemn in the strongest possible terms the recent hateful, abusive and misogynistic remarks toward a female village resident by supporters of mayoral candidate Anthony Bonelli.
Political campaigns can sometimes be tough, but the level of abuse by Bonelli’s supporters toward a female village resident in the most disgusting language is reprehensible and should be condemned by all decent people. Of course, such behavior should come as no surprise, as these same people have a long history of racist, abusive and misogynistic remarks. These same individuals gleefully accepted the endorsement of Carrié Solages, who was sentenced by a court to attend a batterer intervention program and drug testing. Such abusive behavior was dismissed by those same supporters as “raising his voice.” This casual acceptance of the mistreatment and abuse of women is simply unacceptable.
I call on Anthony Bonelli, Jed Kaplowitz, Cristobal Stewart and David Sparrow to condemn these remarks.
