Cops: Two deadly crashes on Peninsula Boulevard in Rockville Centre on the same day

Nassau County Police report that two fatal car accidents took place along Peninsula Boulevard in Rockville Centre on Sunday, Sept. 17.

According to detectives, the first accident took place just after 4 a.m., when a 20-year-old male lost control of his 2010 Nissan Altima and struck several trees while headed southbound on Peninsula Boulevard, near the Southern State Parkway.

Authorities indicated that a 20-year-old female passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and a 32-year-old female passenger have both sustained severe injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital, where they are reported to be in critical condition.

A Nassau County Police Medic discovered the second accident just after 10:30 p.m. along the same roadway, just a mile south of the Southern State Parkway.

The driver, who was identified as a 24-year-old male, was traveling southbound in a 2006 Mini Cooper, when his vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree.

According to police, the driver sustained injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition. The male passenger, also in his twenties, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Both investigations are still ongoing at this time.
