Give a big Willow Road welcome to this national park ranger

Valley Stream 13’s Willow Road Elementary School was recently visited by park ranger Tyler Kuliberda from the National Park Service. Students were given the opportunity to learn about the responsibilities of a ranger, the importance of national parks, and Teddy Roosevelt, one of the nation’s most prominent conservationists. During his tenure as president, Teddy Roosevelt helped establish 150 national forests, 51 federal bird reserves, 4 national game preserves, and 5 national parks.

“It is important that students are conscientious about the community and the environment around them,” said Rosalie Ambrosio, Principal of Willow Road Elementary School. “This was an informative and eye-opening experience for our students as they gained valuable knowledge about the goals of a ranger and the National Park Service. They were also able to come away from the presentation with information on how they might improve their own communities.”

The National Park Service has been committed to maintaining the national parks since its creation in 1916. Not only is the National Park Service responsible for keeping our national parks safe, but rangers also work with local governments, nonprofit organizations, tribes, businesses, and citizens in implementing programs and actions designed to preserve the natural resources and environment of local communities.
