NYAW to replace water mains in Valley Stream

Posted

New York American Water will begin replacing almost 1,660 feet of ageing water mains throughout Valley Stream on May 15.

The utility will begin by replacing 500 feet of six-inch water mains that were installed in the early 1900s at the intersection on W. Hawthorne Avenue from Rockaway Avenue to S. Corona Avenue. It will then replace 600 feet of ageing water mains on Dubonnet Road from Locust Street to Marlboro Road on May 16, and will replace 560 feet of ageing water mains from Ridge Avenue from Mill Road to Fairfield Street starting on May 22.

The three projects, totaling $415,000, will each take four weeks to complete.

Work will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and streets may be closed as a result of the construction. Once all of the replacement water service lines to each home have been installed, The Village of Valley Stream will restore the streets.
