Valley Stream District 24 passes school budget

Voters say 'yes' to $31,787,655 spending plan for 2021-2022

Voters in Valley Stream School District 24  passed the 2021-2022 school budget on May 18.

The spending plan, totaling $31,787,655 was passed by a vote of 388 to 180. It is 2.70 percent larger than the current budget.  Voters also approved  Proposition II, approving  the amount of $129,566,399 to be raised through a tax levy within th Valley Stream  Central High School District. Proposition III was also passed, authorizing the board to attribute $3,650,000 from fund balance to replace the boilers at North Junior/Senior High School and South Junior/Senior High School. 

Incumbent Donna LaRocco was re-elected with 433 votes. She ran against challenger Osbourne Traill, who received 130 votes. Incumbent Markus Wilson was re-elected with 321 votes. He ran against challenger Meaghan Fleming, who gartnered 214 votes.
