Valley Stream man sues Paramount Pictures

Sidney Price, a 92-year-old Valley Stream resident, is suing Paramount Pictures Corp. for damages that allegedly occurred when Paramount filmed “Maniac,” a Netflix television show, at his Sherwood Street house last year.

The lawsuit, which was filed in U.S. District Court in Islip last Thursday, claims that Paramount paid Price $15,500 for 10 days of preparation, filming and wrap-up at his house. The agreement said that Paramount would use only the first floor of the property and would “leave the property in as good order as when received by [the] company, reasonable wear and tear excepted.”

But Price alleges that Paramount also used the second-floor of his residence and moved boxes of personal items to do so. He also alleges that Paramount removed bushes in front of the house, removed windows and from 20 to 30 boxes of photos, including his wedding album.

According to the lawsuit, when Price protested the removal of the photographs, a worker said, “We’re Netflix. We can do what we want.” The lawsuit also says that Price tried to protest the removal of the windows, but was unsuccessful and suffered a mild heart attack as a result.

Netflix and Paramount Pictures have not returned a request for comment as of press time.
