After months of speculation over whether public pools would be allowed to reopen this summer amid the coronavirus pandemic, the Village of Valley Stream announced on Thursday that the Hendrickson Park pool is scheduled to open its doors to swimmers on July 8.

The announcement came two weeks after Gov. Andrew Cuomo gave the Ok for New York’s public pools and playgrounds to reopen at the discretion of their respective municipalities.

Village officials announced that social distancing guidelines will be enforced and that pool goers must bring their own chairs. Additionally:

— Pool use will be limited to village residents, with a two-guest limit.

— No umbrellas are allowed.

— Residents must purchase entrance passes on a day-by-day basis, with fees of $2 for senior citizens, $3 for children and $5 for adults per day.

— Swim time is limited to two daily sessions, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

— Photo ID is required.
