Baldwin poll worker arrested after altercation at Oceanside polling place

Mark Sebesta, 54, of Baldwin, was arrested following a disturbance at Oceanside School Three on Tuesday Sebesta, a poll worker, allegedly engaged in a verbal altercation with a 25-year-old constituent, threatening him during the exchange. When police arrived to defuse the situation, Sebesta falsely claimed to be a law enforcement officer and became aggressive.

After a brief struggle, Sebesta was taken into custody and transported to a local hospital for evaluation. The constituent was unharmed, and voting continued without disruption. Sebesta faces charges including menacing, harassment, obstructing governmental Administration, and Criminal Impersonation. His arraignment is scheduled for Nov. 6, at First District Court in Hempstead.
