For Earth Day, children could draw chalk pictures about what it means to them. The contest deadline is April 20.

To commemorate Earth Day, State Sen. Todd Kaminsky who represents the 9th Senatorial District, which includes several South Shore communities, is asking Long Island children to take part in what is being called the “Chalk the Walk” Earth Day challenge.

Kids are encouraged to take to their driveways and sidewalks and using chalk, draw a picture of what Earth Day means to them. To enter, snap a photo of the drawing and email it to kaminsky@nysenate.gov, no later than April 20. A winner will be chosen on Earth Day, April 22.
