Motivational minister to speak in local church

The St. James Faith Formation of St. James Roman Catholic Church on Hicksville Road in Seaford is hosting a virtual “Fearless Youth Night” on Friday, Aug. 28 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. High school-aged teens are invited to join as special guest speaker Emily Wilson will lead a conversation on preserving one’s faith in today’s world. Participants under 18 must be registered by a parent or guardian at bit.ly/DRVCFearless.

Wilson, the conversation’s guest host, is a Catholic speaker, an author, singer/musician and YouTuber who speaks frequently and creates content based around her faith and how it has guided her journey. That journey led Wilson to a broadcast journalism degree from Arizona State University ten years ago. After graduation, though, Wilson credits reading On the Dignity and Vocation of Women by Saint John Paul II with inspiring her to use her education and honing her oratory skills to present “and spread the Gospel.”

She then gained experience speaking with teens, taking a position as an on-campus high school minister. After two years, Wilson became a full-time traveling minister in 2013. She has since spoken and performed live music at various national and international youth, young adult, and women’s events in two dozen states and numerous countries, including diocesan, parish, and school events, as well as FOCUS, Life Teen, and Steubenville conferences, the National Catholic Youth Conference, and the Australian and Swiss Catholic Youth Festivals.

Wilson has also authored multiple books and continues to spread the word of her faith through talks with youth. One of Wilson’s talking topics is “Go Brave,” which parallels the lives of Catholic women today with that of St. Joan of Arc. Wilson’s topics aim to encourage and uplift women to boldly profess their faith without hesitation.

The virtual event will be livestreamed on YouTube. For more information, email youthministry@drvc.org.
