Mount Sinai South Nassau hospital officials announced that its 36th annual golf tournament was rescheduled to Sept. 14 at the Seawane Country Club in Hewlett and the Rockaway Hunting Club in Lawrence.

“We are thrilled to announce the rescheduled date of this year’s golf outing,” MSSN officials said in a letter, “and to offer an opportunity to get outside and safely enjoy a round of golf while honoring the heroic efforts of all the Mount Sinai South Nassau employees who answered the call of duty during the Covid-19 pandemic, which hit our community so hard.”

The outing will have an 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. shotgun start at both courses, and will adhere to social distancing guidelines, with one foursome starting on each hole. There will also be increased food and beverages throughout the courses as the annual awards dinner had to be canceled.

Further guidelines include remote and contactless registration for each guest, each player being provided their own cart, which will be sanitized between rounds, above-ground cups so players don’t have to touch the pin and high-touch areas have been eliminated, such as rakes in the bunkers.

The hospital lost millions of dollars during the pandemic when elective surgeries and other procedures were postponed for months, and the golf outing is one of its biggest fundraisers of the year.
