Posted

Lakeview resident Isaiah Forte, a tenth grader at Malverne High School, won the grand championship for the Long Island Horse Show Series for Riders with Disabilities championship finals on Aug. 26.

Forte, 15, who competed in the leader/sidewalker division at the Hampton Classic Horse Show in Bridgehampton, N.Y., had previously finished in first place during the 2015 competition. The Hampton Classics is the premier horse show on the East Coast.

The annual LIHSSRD was created in 2005 to provide competition opportunities for riders with special needs at United States Equestrian Federation rated hunter jumper shows.

LIHSSRD classes are held at rated competitions throughout Long Island and are open to all riders with a documented disability. Riders compete for points at each show. The top riders in each division qualify for the annually LIHSSRD championship finals.
