Zumba at the library
Party, sweat and get fit with Zumba instructor Donette Longmore-Levy at the Lakeview Public Library on Saturday, Aug. 24, from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. It’s a good workout for everybody and every body. Cold Spring Harbor Band
Billy Joel tribute band, the Cold Spring Harbor Band, will perform in Malverne’s Westwood Park on Friday, Aug. 30 at 7:30 p.m. The concert will wrap up the village’s 2019 Summer Entertainment Series. Bring a chair or a blanket for seating. The event is free of charge. Info: www.malvernevillage.org.
2019 Nassau Library Tour
Road trip to as many of Nassau’s public libraries as you can — including West Hempstead’s — this month. Each one is a gateway into a new community. Groove to the sounds of the Big Easy, when the Hoodoo Loungers visit Long Island, on Tuesday, Aug. 27, at 8 p.m. It’s always Mardi Gras for this lively nine-piece band, inspired by the rhythms, sounds, history and spirit of New Orleans. Their sound encompasses traditional New Orleans Jazz, Brass Band, classic R&B and funk — a blend of original music, re-arranged New Orleans classics and high energy stomp downs right out of the Gospel Church.
