Angel Castro Castro, 31, of West Hempstead, was arrested on Thursday night for driving while intoxicated. Castro was driving with a 4-year-old child in the car and no car seat, Nassau police said.
At 8:30 p.m. on June 12, police officers responded to a car accident at the intersection of Jackson Ave. and Wilson St. in West Hempstead. After arriving on the scene, Castro was found to be intoxicated when he hit a parked car. He was then arrested.
The 4-year-old child was found in Castro's car during the arrest. No car seat was found at the scene of the accident. The child, accompanied by his mother, was taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation.
Castro was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated, endagering the welfare of a child, and multiple traffic violations. He was arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Friday morning.
