Woodstock revival festival in West Hempstead

Posted

Creative Corner, an art and music school in West Hempstead, marked the Woodstock music festival’s 50th anniversary with a “revival festival” last Sunday. The event, organized by Nichole and her father, Harry Baldino, featured arts and crafts activities and local artists who sold handmade goods. People of all ages took part in the festivities to celebrate one of the most prominent events in the 1960s.
Woodstock took place between Aug. 15-18, 1969, and was attended by more than 400,000 people. Today Woodstock is mostly remembered for its connection to the “counterculture” movement of the 1960s, which opposed the Vietnam War and the political and cultural establishment of the time. But the festival was also a critical event in the history of music.
