The Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District is looking at a 3.58 percent increase in its 2010-11 operating budget when compared to the current year, meaning expenditures would jump from roughly $122 million to $127.3 million.

Kennedy High School senior Eugenio Ciniglio, a linebacker and tight end on the up-and-coming Cougars football squad, signed a letter of intent to play for the Marist College Red Foxes, a Division I team, next fall. Ciniglio is the first Kennedy football player in more than two decades to earn a football scholarship. Ciniglio scored the winning touchdown in the Nassau-Suffolk Exceptional Seniors Game this past fall. On Wednesday, he was joined by his coach, Frank Sansanelli, Kennedy Athletic Coordinator Craig Papach, Principal Lorraine Poppe, his guidance counselors, family and friends for the signing ceremony.

St. Elizabeth Ann Seton School in Bellmore celebrated Catholic Schools Week this past week. The school educates students from Merrick, Bellmore, Wantagh, East Meadow and surrounding towns. On Kids Day, children had a blast with relay races and loads of fun games.
