Posted

Folks from across the Bellmores are expected to gather to honor America’s fallen at the community’s annual Memorial Day parade on Monday.

The procession, co-sponsored by North Bellmore American Legion Post No. 1749 and Bellmore American Legion Post No. 948, will run from north to central Bellmore. There will also be memorial services at two monuments.

A service will be held at 9 a.m. at the veterans’ monument, between Newbridge Road Elementary School and the North Bellmore Public Library. After the remembrance, the parade will step off at 10 a.m.

The procession will start at Bellmore and Marshall avenues and head south on Bellmore Avenue. Marchers will turn right onto Oak Street and then left onto Bedford Avenue. The parade will end at the veterans’ monument outside Bellmore Fire Department headquarters.

In addition to the American Legion posts, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2770, the Vietnam War Veterans Association, fire departments, student bands, scout troops, the Chamber of Commerce of the Bellmores, the Bellmore Kiwanis and Lions clubs, and the Bellmore Knights of Columbus are set to participate.
