The Bellmore Memorial Library was evacuated Friday morning while police searched for a possible "device" within the building.

Public information officials at the Nassau County Police Department said officers arrived at the library at 11:38 a.m. to search for a device. They explained that an anonymous caller phoned in a threat to the library that morning.

Officials did not provide any additional information regarding the nature of the threat. They also did not describe the type of device investigators were searching for at the library.

The library and surrounding areas were searched, but police said no device was found. No one was harmed as a result of the incident.

A post on the Bellmore Memorial Library website explained that there was an "emergency closing" on Feb. 21. Officials re-opened the building, located at 2288 Bedford Ave., at 2 p.m.
