Scott Brinton/Herald
The Kennedy High School lacrosse team boasts seven college recruits this year. They are, top row, from left, Nick DiGangi, Brandon Klein, Ralph Faiella, Chris Racalbuto and Chris Jones; bottom row, Daniel Hartman and Troy Lampert. They were joined by Kennedy’s head lacrosse coach, Craig Papach.

“I felt like I was able to compete with the better kids,” Lampert said. “College lacrosse grew on me.”

He chose Ithaca College, he said, because “I felt like I’d get a great education.” Ithaca ranks among the Top 10 regional schools in the North, according to U.S. News. Lampert plans to major in business.

Racalbuto, who in addition to playing midfield for the lacrosse team is also the Kennedy football team’s quarterback and a standout on the basketball team, said he knew that he wanted to play college lacrosse as early as third grade.

“I loved it,” he said. When he made Kennedy’s varsity squad as a sophomore, he gained confidence and began to believe he had a shot, he said.

Of Adelphi, he said, “I loved every part of it. I felt like I was at home.” He plans to major in business.
