Lee Krichmar of Baldwin and John Eakin of Lynbrook started East Rockaway Taxi in 2009. Collectively, they have more than 30 years experience in the transportation industry. They know what’s important to the people they serve. Their goal has been to run a different kind of cab company — one with happy drivers, which would reflect onto their customers. East Rockaway Taxi recently merged with All Island Taxi, owned by Larry Blessinger, Jr., which added more cars to their fleet, hence, the ability to offer even quicker service.

“We run the business like a black car service — a taxi company with a town car touch,” said Krichmar. “Our drivers go out of their way to help the customers. They hold TLC licenses. Each is drug tested and gets a thorough background check. They are required to be well-dressed with collared shirts, be polite and courteous. Every car is black with gold letters, and kept immaculate. Service is personalized and prices are kept competitive.”

For airport transportation, people calling from neighboring (core) towns can enjoy the same pricing benefits as those living in East Rockaway. Each pickup gets a private car for airport transportation, as opposed to having to share it with others calling for a ride, which would involve making other stops. The price is set for the pickup, not for the number of people. A family would pay the same as a single person, which is not usually the case. Drivers are given advanced knowledge of all the Tri-state area roadways to avoid delays. Return flights are tracked on the company’s computer, so that a car will be waiting right outside the airport for the customer’s convenience.
