Alleged larceny leads to arrest at Newbridge Park

Police recover drug packet believed to hold heroin

At 3:40 p.m. on Feb. 5, a 911 call was placed from the Rite Aid Pharmacy on Merrick Road in Bellmore. Two young women had allegedly stolen items from the store, authorities said. Nicole Castillo, 21, of Bellmore and Nicole Hughes, 22, of East Meadow, got into a 1998 Chrysler Sebring driven by Christopher Castillo, 23, of North Bellmore.

Sgt. Anthony Repalone of the Nassau County Police Departnent Public Information Office said all three individuals were arrested and the stolen merchandise recovered around 4 p.m. in the Newbridge Road Park parking lot.

Hughes and Nicole Castillo were charged with petit larceny, and Hughes was additionally charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle.

When arrested, Castillo was found to be in possession of a folded wax envelope containing a brownish substance believed to be heroin, according to officers. He was charged with misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance. All three individuals were held overnight and arraigned the following day on Feb. 6.
