It may have still felt like August on Tuesday, with temperatures reaching 89 degrees and the heat index in the mid-90s, but September had arrived. Bellmore and North Bellmore children walked through school doorways again on Sept. 2, the first day of the 2014-15 school year.
Continuing a yearly tradition, Dr. Joseph S. Famularo, Bellmore's superintendent, and Board of Education President Janet Goller, Vice President Jay L.T. Breakstone and trustee Maryanne Kelly joined Charles A. Reinhard Early Childhood Center Principal Patricia Castine in welcoming the district’s youngest students on their first day. The Bellmore Herald Life was there to catch the action as children arrived at Reinhard, which is located on South St. Mark's Avenue in south Bellmore.
