Bellmore Chamber honors its own

The Chamber of Commerce of the Bellmores celebrated in high style at the business organization’s annual Installation Dinner Dance at the Woodbury Country Club on Jan. 21.

Debby Izzo, owner of the Dirty Dog, was named the chamber’s president, succeeding Ron Mare, owner of Choice Flooring. William Wilgus, owner of WAW Creative Construction, was installed as vice president; Jill Bromberg, advertising manager for L&M Publications, as recording secretary; and Greg Conneely, owner of Conneely Allstate Insurance, as treasurer.

The 2012 Board of Directors comprises Steve Eplan, owner of The Rock Underground; Gene Judd, owner of Island Greenery; Emilio Manzo, president of the Bellmore-Merrick Community Wellness Council; Marc Menzies, owner of Overview Computers, Inc.; Seth Meyerowitz, owner of the website-design company UBE, Inc.; Kevin McKinnon, owner of Days Gone Bye; Bob Podolski, representing the North Bellmore Fire Department; Peter Ray, owner of AG Electric Supply Company; John Sirabella Sr., owner of the Sabre Agency Inc.; Joe Verdi, owner of Income Tax Plus; and Dan Yngstrom, representing the Vietnam Veterans Association.

The chamber staff includes Martha Verdi, the membership representative and festival coordinator, and Nancy Seifer, the administrative assistant.

The evening’s honorees included Karen and Mark Meyerowitz, owners of the tax-accounting firm Meyerowitz & Meyerowitz, who received the Lifetime Achievement Award for more than 30 years of committed service to the chamber; Jack Skelly, owner of J.E.S. Printing, who was honored with the Community Award; Joe Verdi, owner of Income Tax Plus, who was named Board Member of the Year; and Roger McClean, co-owner of Have You Heard?, who was recognized as the Chamber Member of the Year. McClean owns Have You Heard? with his wife, Ginny, a former chamber president.
