The Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District recognized its 2010 National Merit semifinalists at Wednesday’s Board of Education meeting. Semifinalists represent the top 1.6 percent of high scorers on the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test, taken by more than 1 million students annually, generally in 10th grade. This year’s honorees are, in alphabetical order, Benjamin Dickstein from Calhoun High School, Joshua Cohen, Gregory Manis and Darwin Shen, all of Kennedy High School, and Steven Tsai of Mepham High School. They are joined above by Central Superintendent Dr. Henry Kiernan, board President Nina Lanci and Vice President Matthew Kuschner.
