Bellmore-Merrick seniors celebrate in style on prom night

Posted

Last Thursday was prom night, and before the dance got under way, seniors from all three Bellmore-Merrick high schools –– Calhoun, Kennedy and Mepham –– held their own pre-prom celebrations at one another’s homes, as is tradition.

The soon-to-be graduates enjoyed light refreshments while chatting about the good –– and often funny –– times they had during their four years in high school, while finalizing after-prom plans for the Big Night.

On Old Mill Road in North Merrick, Jeff and Claudette Singer and Eileen and Scott Behnke, neighbors whose now-adult children are graduating Calhoun, held what can only be called a mega-pre-prom party, in which seniors flowed freely between the Singers’ and Behnkes’ yards, laughing and smiling along the way. And the Herald was there to catch the action.

Calhoun held its prom at the Huntington Hilton.
