Brooklyn men charged with robbing batteries from Bellmore Rite Aid

Posted

Two Brooklyn men were arrested and charged with robbing a Rite Aid on Merrick Road in Bellmore on Friday morning. When Nassau County police officers arrived on the scene, one spotted the suspects fleeing in a 2001 Green Kia.

Police pursued the car, attempting to stop the suspects. As the car took off, the driver ignored stop signs and sideswiped a car. The driver lost control of the car and collided with another vehicle stopped at a light in the right lane of the westbound side of Merrick Road at Beech Street. Boris Jairala, 32, jumped out of the passenger seat and attempted to flee. Police apprehended Jairala shortly after and placed him in custody.

The driver, Edward Danziger, 47, resisted arrest, but was placed in custody at the scene. Police allege that the two men attempted to take $975 worth of Duracell batteries from the Rite Aid when an employee saw them and called police. The men then pushed the employee and fled the store.

Both defendants were charged with robbery. Danziger was also charged with reckless endangerment and resisting arrest.
