Calhoun High School senior James Panetta raced to 14th place in the New York State Cross-Country Championship in Pawling, N.Y., on Saturday, earning him All-State honors. The Top 20 runners in the race received the accolade.
Panetta completed the 3.1-mile course in a time of 16:27.5. His teammate Tim Campbell finished in 16:41.9, grabbing 29th place. Overall, the Calhoun team took eighth place.
The squad’s appearance at states capped a near-perfect season, which included a win at the Nassau County Cross-Country Championship a week earlier.
