Cops charge babysitter in burglary

Posted

A North Bellmore babysitter likely played a role in a burglary on Court Street in North Bellmore sometime between Sept. 29 and Oct. 2, Nassau County Police said.

North Merrick resident Christopher Burke, 19, entered the North Bellmore home through an unlocked basement window and allegedly stole assorted jewelry, authorities said. Further investigation implicated Kayla Carbone, 18, of North Bellmore, the victims’ babysitter. Officials said Carbone likely informed Burke when the family would be away.

Detectives traced the stolen jewelry through the Pawn Tracking System. Burke was charged with burglary, and Carbone was charged with possession of stolen property as well as tampering with physical evidence.
