Police arrested an East Meadow woman on Saturday and charged her with selling drugs in her Jeep Cherokee, with her 2-year-old child in the back seat.

According to police, detectives in an unmarked car watched Saturday night as Susan Lane, 26, allegedly purchased drugs from Ryan Byrne, 24, of Amityville. Lane, in turn, attempted to sell them to another woman, Angel Alfano, 24, of Massapequa, while the two women sat in Lane's Jeep parked in a lot on Merrick Road in Merrick, authorities said. The three were arrested at 9:10 p.m.

A spokesman for the Nassau County Police Department said he believed pills were recovered in the arrest, but police could not confirm what kind of drugs were being bought and sold until they were tested in a police laboratory.

All three defendants were arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead by Judge Rhonda Fischer on Saturday. Lane was charged with criminal sale of a controlled substance and endangering the welfare of a child. She was held on $10,000 bail, which at press time she had not yet posted. Her child was released into the custody of a relative.

Alfano was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, and held on $5,000 bail, which she had not yet posted.

Byrne was charged with sale of a controlled substance and two counts of possession of a controlled substance and held on $15,000, which he also had not yet posted.

Lane, Alfano and Byrne are due back in court on Feb. 24.
