Creative writing at the Merrick Senior Center

The members of the Merrick Senior Center Creative Writing Workshop will present their work on June 7 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Merrick Senior Center at 2550 Clubhouse Road in Merrick. Admission is free and refreshments will be served.

Although the final presentation was held for many years at the Merrick Theater and Center for the Arts, the location was changed to a venue with more accessible parking. The workshop is held at the Merrick Senior Center for 16 weeks each year and sponsored by Poets and Writers, Inc. and the Town of Hempstead. It is led by Paula Rodenas, of Merrick.

The writers create poetry, prose, memoirs and dialogues or "vignettes," many of which will be read at the event. Other pieces will appear in an annual publication entitled "Musings of Maturity" to be published later this year. For information call 516-868-4777.
